

A Bit About Me
Shirley Gil is the Headmaster and co-founder of STEPSS Academy, Inc. in South Florida. With more than 35 years of experience in education, she has played a key role in founding, developing, and leading successful private schools throughout the community.

Before opening STEPSS Academy in 2011, Ms. Gil served as headmaster of another nonprofit school, where she helped transform the program into a thriving school. She has also served on the boards of several private schools, helping establish the strong foundations that continue to support their long-term success.

Inspired by both professional experience and personal connections to children with learning differences and autism, Ms. Gil helped create STEPSS Academy to provide students with disabilities a program that combines quality education, life skills, and individualized support. She believes every child has the ability to become a productive and successful member of the community.
Ms. Gil has extensive knowledge in all areas of school operations, including policies and procedures, scholarship programs, licensing requirements, and accreditation.
